Varanasi Ghat-Banarasiya

Varanasi Ghat-Banarasiya

Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together. Ganges in Varanasi is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals. The city is known worldwide for its many ghats, embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions.

This painting depicts the holy water of Gange at one of the Ghat in Varanasi where pilgrims are bathing early in the morning. They are offering pooja, dia and jal to Gange Maa and Surya Devta while some are preparing themselves for the Pooja.

This painting shows traditions and culture of Holy city-Benaras also called “KAASHi”..Har Har Gange..
